Mind the Gap: Do you design to get the product sold or to provide a useful tool?
Description
We design and build for what we know and for the future we can envision. Made by people, for people and with certain people in mind. Meanwhile the future and new technology promises to take care of a lot of things for us such as handling complexity while hyper-personalising tools.
I would like to connect these two topics of people and digital products by looking at the conscious and unconscious concepts of who we target with our digital product – in the present, the past and in the future.
If you take this holistic perspective, the dilemma “Company Goals vs. User Goals” becomes clear, but also the first hopeful approaches to resolving this dilemma in a meaningful way.
