At least 10 reasons to take part in WSC 2026

Web Summer Camp is a three-day annual conference for web professionals, organized by Netgen. Since its first edition in 2012, it has become a highlight event for the European web community, fostering both learning and collaboration in a relaxed, seaside setting.

Who Attends and Why

WSC brings together a diverse mix of attendees:

  • Web developers (frontend and backend)
  • UX / UI designers
  • Project managers & product managers
  • Founders, product owners, and managers of digital teams
  • Decision-makers in marketing, martech, and digital transformation

One of the big draws is the practical, hands-on format: attendees don’t just sit in lectures - they dive into workshops and small-group sessions where they can apply what they learn directly.

Program & Tracks

The camp’s program is structured around tracks that target specific interests and professional roles.

  • PMx2 - Practical workshops and interactive sessions for Product Managers and Product Owners, but also for Project Managers
  • Founders - Designed for founders and business leaders in digital service companies, this track focuses on balancing roles such as CEO, COO, CFO, and CMO.
  • UX - This workshop-oriented track dives into creating exceptional user experiences that align with both user expectations and business goals.
  • AI Engineering - Hands-on workshops perfect for AI and data engineers looking to expand their expertise and knowhow.
  • JavaScript - Workshop oriented track to provide a deep dive into front-end web technologies.
  • PHP - A hands-on track dedicated to PHP professionals, designed to enhance server-side skills.

Workshops run throughout all three days, giving attendees time to really dig into the material. The final day typically features a conference with keynote talks, discussions, and deeper reflections on web industry trends.

Location & Atmosphere

Web Summer Camp is being held in Opatija, Croatia, at a five-star hotel located near the centre of town - Hotel Ambasador. The setting is deliberately chosen to mix work and relaxation: participants often highlight the combination of learning, sun, sea, good food, and networking.

In fact, many attendees describe WSC as more than a typical tech conference — it's a “work trip with friends,” where professionals come to recharge, connect, and grow.

Impact & Community
  • The event draws around 250+ web experts, from 20+ countries
  • Attendees consistently praise the immediate applicability of the skills and insights gained - last year, 94.1% attendees said they can apply what they learned directly to their work
  • It’s not just about sessions: networking, peer experience-sharing, and honest conversations are central to the camp’s value
  • The event is run in person only (no livestream), which helps maintain strong personal connections

Ten reasons you don’t want to miss the WSC 2026, or any other

1. It’s Designed as a Working Retreat, Not a Typical Conference

Most conferences are built around passive learning. WSC is structured like a focused professional retreat:

  • Long, deep workshops instead of short talks
  • Time built in for reflection and discussion
  • Encourages applying ideas immediately, not “someday at work”

People don’t just learn — they change how they work while they’re there.

2. Unusually High Trust Between Speakers and Attendees

WSC attracts speakers who are willing to:

  • Share real failures, not polished success stories
  • Show behind-the-scenes processes
  • Talk openly about hard business and leadership lessons

That level of honesty is rare at large commercial conferences.

3. Strong Cross-Disciplinary Mixing

Most events separate roles:

  • “Developer” conferences
  • “Design” meetups
  • “Founder” events

WSC intentionally mixes them:

  • Developers sit with product people
  • Designers learn alongside founders
  • Leaders join technical tracks

This creates conversations that don’t happen in siloed events.

4. The Size Is a Feature, Not a Limitation

Unlike huge events with thousands of people:

  • You keep seeing the same people, making a way for real relationships to form
  • Conversations go deeper instead of surface-level networking
  • Speakers are accessible and part of the community, not separate

It feels more like a temporary village of professionals than a crowded expo ;)

5. Focus on “How to Think,” Not “What to Use”

While many tech conferences focus on:

  • Frameworks
  • Tools
  • Tactics

WSC focuses on:

  • Decision-making
  • Systems thinking
  • Long-term strategy
  • Sustainable work practices

This makes the content stay relevant longer than trend-based talks.

6. A Judgement-Free Culture is Actively Created

This is very rare in professional events:

  • Collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Success is celebrated without pressure or comparison.
  • People openly ask beginner questions.
  • Failure stories are respected, not judged.

That makes it valuable for all parties involved.

7. It Feels Like a Community, Not an Industry Event

Many people:

  • Return year after year
  • Keep in touch long after the event
  • Collaborate on projects born from WSC connections

The event becomes part of people’s professional identity, not just their calendar.

8. Reasonable Pace

Unlike fast, crowded agendas, WSC:

  • Leaves breathing room between sessions
  • Encourages going for walks, swims, and real breaks
  • Supports the idea that clarity comes from space, not overload

This is very different from high-pressure tech events.

9. Business + Tech + Human Skills in One Place

Few events successfully connect:

  • Technology
  • Leadership
  • Team dynamics
  • Creativity

WSC treats professionals as whole humans, not just job titles.

10. It Creates “Long-Term Impact” Moments

Many attendees describe moments like:

  • Deciding to change career direction
  • Redesigning their company culture
  • Starting a product or company
  • Fixing burnout

This kind of personal-professional shift is rare for a conference to catalyze.

What truly makes Web Summer Camp unique is that it’s less about consuming content and more about transforming how people think, work, and connect. WSC doesn’t just teach people how to build better websites and products. It teaches them how to build better ways of working, thinking, and collaborating - and that is exactly why it remains unforgettable.
